It seems fitting that I start my new blog on the last day of my summer job as a high school intern for a nationally recognized paper, High Country News. Shameless self promoting, right? WRONG!
It also seems odd that I am thanking the heavens that this is my last day. The experience I got here, at High Country News is invaluable. The people are intelligent, and funny. However, environmental journalism dedicated to the west is not my forte. The letter of recomendation was worth it though.
This week, in my small hometown of no more than 1,000 people, the county fair is being held, where pigs will be judged on their pigginess, and goats will be judged on their goatiness, and cowboy wannabes will admire the real thing from the stadium on Rodeo night. However tonight, drunken teenagers will admire their adult counterparts ability to wreck cars freely and soberly at the demolition derby.
I wouldn't miss it for the world...
